First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Great Canadian Entertainment.
Shift Supervisor
It was a typical interview process, but they threw in some questions I hadn't encountered before. I got there early to get myself ready and settled. They also explained what they'd expect from me if I were to get the job. Plus, they mentioned they'd be accommodating regarding my disability, and I assured them it wouldn't affect my work.
- Can you tell me about a time you had an issue with a guest?
Usher
I chatted with the Front of House Manager, and it was a really good time. It was interesting and I got to talk about what I'm qualified for and learn about the job and the company. They were nice and paid attention, making it easy to talk. They were calm and I could say what I thought, which was fun and useful. It made me more interested in the job and showed me the team has a good vibe. I'm excited to possibly join such a lively place.
- Can you discuss your related experience, and are you able to stand for extended periods?
Accountant
The interview process was pretty straightforward. It was a panel interview with three people: an HR Coordinator, a Controller, and a General Manager. They asked a mix of behavioral and technical questions. The questions felt very scripted and the interview was quite one-sided. Each interviewer had a lot of questions, and they didn't seem to fully grasp them themselves. I'd suggest the interview panel practice more or customize their questions. It would also be good to deviate from the script sometimes, as the interview felt too one-directional.
- What's your approach to managing numerous tasks under tight deadlines?
- How would you respond if you had a more efficient method than what your manager suggested?
- Describe how you would manage a conflict with a subordinate.
Graphic Designer
First, I had to fill out some forms about my background, experience, and education. Then I met with the marketing manager and coordinator. We talked about my skills and they asked me some questions about my portfolio projects and some hypothetical situations. After that, they gave me a sample project to complete within 2-3 days to check my skills.
- Can you share an instance where you made a mistake and describe how you managed it?
- Could you discuss a project that is featured in your portfolio?
- How would you approach a given design scenario?
