I showed up dressed up to turn in my resume and fill out an app, and while they told me later it made me stand out, I'm not sure it was why I got the job, but it got me an interview. For the interview, I wore khakis and a nice shirt, and that was fine. The manager took me to her office and asked me about my past jobs. The questions were all typical customer service ones, like 'Tell me about a time you teamed up to fix something' and 'Why do you wanna work here?'. She asked me about 5 or 6 of these. When you fill out the application, one question is 'Can you draw?' and if you say yes, you might get tested as a decorator. She gave me a plain paper and a pen and asked me to draw a dog. While I was drawing, she got a cakeboard and a bag of white icing. She wrote 'Happy Birthday' up top and then asked me to copy it as best I could. I wasn't great at it then, but I still got hired as a decorator, and after some training and practice, writing with icing became easy.

Saw an ad on craigslist for the job. It was a really quick interview about 15mins or so. I was asked about my interests and told the lady about myself. Asked to give an instance i had to solve a problem with a customer, and was given hypothetical questions about what i would do if another employee was taking money from the register and what i would do...pretty normal job interview. At the end of the interview i was offered the job and signed the papers and everything right then and there.

I had an in-person interview with the franchise owner. It was a pretty relaxed interview, no tests or anything like that. They mainly wanted to know about my availability and any previous work experience I had. The interview lasted about twenty minutes. The owner was really nice and said if my school work ever got in the way of my job, I should just let him know and he'd make sure work wouldn't interfere.

The interview was pretty standard. The manager asked me about my previous work history, what I'm capable of, and my availability. They also asked about how other people see me versus how I see myself, along with my good qualities and what I enjoy. Make sure you bring a resume and have a positive attitude, like for any job. It was a simple process, and the interview itself was under 30 minutes. Remember to fill out the paper application before you come in.
