The management team was very pleasant and made me feel welcome. They were upfront about what the job would be like and what they expected. The interview didn't involve super tough questions, just pretty standard ones. It was about 15 minutes of talking, followed by a 15-minute computer test using an Excel spreadsheet.

I was really looking forward to this job, but after the first interview, I was totally put off. I was prepped to talk about how I could help the company, but the manager just talked for over an hour about stuff like how she doesn't want me to gossip (which I thought was obvious), demanding my loyalty (which I had to promise her multiple times), expecting me to work on my days off if she needed me, telling me not to complain to her boss because the last supervisor apparently did, and explaining that the 40-hour schedule she posted is just a formality and I'd be working more. I get that with a salary position you might work extra, but taking away my days off would mess up my work-life balance. Not having a set schedule also means no real structure. Being told I can't go to her boss with problems is a red flag, and having to repeatedly assure her of my loyalty... I just didn't go back for the second interview.

It was a really disappointing candidate experience. The recruiter called, and then I quickly moved to a panel interview. There were 10 people, each with a list of questions, and they rotated through. Some people arrived late without any introductions, which was awkward. They all took notes furiously while I answered, with very little eye contact. When I asked "how could this role add value to your area of expertise?", the silence was deafening. I reached out to the recruiter for feedback and everyone's email addresses so I could thank them, but I heard nothing. How do you spell ghosted. Not cool! You could do better if you tried.

I had a really nice, professional interview process. They gave me a full tour of the place, and I talked with the Director of F&B for about an hour. Then I met with the Assistant General Manager and the General Manager. After that, I had a conference call with the Corporate Vice President of Food and Beverage for the company that manages the property. It was kind of casual, more like a chat than an interrogation.
