Continuous Improvement Manager
The talent acquisition person set up a phone screen pretty fast after I applied. She didn't really seem to get Continuous Improvement stuff and seemed to be reading off a list. She cut me off a lot and couldn't ask good follow-up questions. To make things better, your manager should be part of the first chat with you, or just stick to behavioral questions and send good people to the manager for the real screening, instead of screening people on technical things you don't really know about.
- Can you tell me who your customers are?
- What lean tools are you familiar with?
Systems Designer
The interview process was fast and really well done. I started with a phone chat with HR, then went in for an in-person interview with Engineering and HR managers. After that, I had a call with the CEO. The in-person meeting in Burlington had technical and situational questions. It wasn't a trick interview, and the HR questions were pretty standard. The goal was for them to get to know me and for me to learn about Grantek and their culture. The interviewers were great at explaining that. I'd seen good reviews on Glassdoor, and meeting the employees confirmed them – they're genuinely good people who love working there. HR called me shortly after speaking with the CEO with an offer and set up a presentation for the next day. I liked how quick the process was, unlike other companies that take ages. I accepted the job offer and am looking forward to a good career at Grantek.
- What is it about Grantek that appeals to you and why do you think you're a suitable candidate?
- What would past managers say about you?
- Can you share an example of a time when something didn't go as planned and explain how you managed it?
System Designer
I applied to Grantek via their career website and also sent my resume to HR. The HR team was very responsive, scheduling a phone interview within 2 hours. This initial call focused on my past experience and included basic behavioral questions, lasting about 30 minutes. The second interview delved into technical aspects. It felt more like a collaborative discussion, solution-oriented rather than a strict interrogation. This part lasted around 50 minutes, which I really enjoyed. The final interview was with the CEO, focusing on my personality, ambitions, personal goals, and education, based on our conversation and my background. The entire process spanned about three weeks. I was impressed with the HR department's transparency; they provided honest feedback on my progress with clear explanations.
- Can you provide an example of how to improve HMI?
- Tell me about a time you worked on a project with little to no direction.
- What's the most recent skill you've acquired, and what was your motivation for learning it?
Systems Engineer
I started with a quick recruiter call. Then, I had a video call with the Director and Engineering Manager. The original plan was a call with the CEO, but since he was traveling, I spoke with the Senior Director of Engineering instead. The whole process moved quickly and they were very responsive. Soon after my last interview, I got a job offer and Grantek scheduled another video call to discuss it. The interviews included typical technical questions, but they also focused a lot on me as a person and on Grantek. They really valued ensuring I was a good cultural fit for Grantek and that Grantek was a good fit for me. Everyone I met was pleasant, responsive, and seemed to enjoy working there.
- What would be your initial actions if you were put in charge of a project?
