First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Grand Hyatt.
Intern
The process is demanding, with essential interview questions asked, but with a lot of humanity and clarity in the company's guidance. The first contact was made via WhatsApp, and we did a video call. After that, an in-person interview is scheduled with the person responsible for the candidate's area of activity, where questions related to the candidate's professional activities are asked.
- What would you do in a customer service situation where the client is visibly angry?
Account Executive
The interviewers were super late, I was waiting almost 50 minutes for them (HR and the Line manager) even though I got there 20 minutes early. No apology or anything for the wait. The Line manager also had a bad attitude when I asked them questions. They tried to offer me a salary that was 10% less than what I'm making now. The office looked really old too. Worst interview ever.
- What is your background in the hotel industry?
- Why do you want to quit your current job?
- Why do you want to join us?
Assistant Manager
Applied for the job online, then had to go to a career networking event for the marketing role before they decided to interview me. Met with the marketing team first, asked a lot of questions on how to improve the company. Then proceeded to the next round with the Sales and Marketing team, again questioning my recommendations to improve the Hotel's marketing efforts. The whole process used 3 annual leaves and felt like a complete waste of time. They have had a 2-year hiatus and can only afford $3500 per month for an Assistant Manager? They need to wake up instead of feeding on job candidates' ideas for free! At this rate, they can never match up to Hilton and Marriott because of incompetent employees. Got the offer but they pay too little and the team has no inner drive to make the brand any better so I highly do not recommend anyone applying to an unmotivated company like this!!
- What recommendations do you have to improve the Hotel's marketing efforts?
Inbound Receiver
So first, they'll review your application. Then there's a phone screening. After that, you come in for an in-person interview. They'll ask about your experience, how you handle details, your physical ability, how you manage inventory, and how you work with a team. Then, a background check. It's pretty straightforward, not too difficult, and no real pressure.
- Can you share some details about your past experience?
- Could you please introduce yourself and tell us about your background?
