First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Grand Homes Inc..
Sales Assistant
So, first, it's a cattle call. You come in for a group interview and a presentation. Then, you break off and have 5 minutes to look over all the Grand Homes awards and get to know the company. After that, you gotta give a presentation on Grand Homes like you're trying to sell a house to the hiring manager. A couple days later, they call you back in for a sales team meeting where they watch how you vibe with the different sales staff. After the meeting, it's a 1:1 with the hiring manager to talk about the job and they'll either give you an offer or not.
- What is it about sales that you enjoy?
Sales Counselor
Grand holds interviews every Monday evening. You'll go to the training room to fill out paperwork like an application, personality tests, and a questionnaire. A recruiter will tell you about Grand and who you'll meet. They'll also take your picture. A senior manager will share the company's story and history. Then, you'll have 5 minutes to study information about Grand. When the manager returns, everyone will present about the company for a few minutes. This could be a role-playing customer situation or a presentation to Realtors. Some sales management members will watch this. After everyone presents, you'll be told if you're moving on or not selected.
- Presenting in front of the group can be tough if you're not used to performing publicly.
Sales Manager
I met with them at a model home, we sat in the living room and the District Manager talked most of the time. They asked me questions but I'm not sure they were really listening. Before the interview, I had to take a personality test to see if I was a bull, lamb, tiger, etc. He mentioned that I confused him because I didn't match what the test showed. The questions were pretty basic.
- Can you tell me about your high school experience?
Builder
I talked with the project manager and spent a couple days shadowing another builder. Then, I interviewed with the division president for about 45 minutes. After that, I had an interview with the CEO. Once I accepted, I filled out a bunch of paperwork with personal info and personality tests, and then I started the next day.
- What else would you want to be if not a builder?
