Holiday Character
It was a great interview process. The person I spoke with was very personable and nice. I asked a lot of questions and they knew the answer to every question I asked. I hope this person stays for a long time.
- What is your availability?
Training Manager
The Training Manager interview at Grand Geneva Resort was professionally invigorating, rigorous, and rewarding. It was a 3-stage process. Stage 1 was an in-person interview with the Human Resources Director and Associate HR Director, lasting about an hour. Stage 2 was a phone interview with the L&D Director from Marcus Corporate, also an hour, focusing on rigor and encouragement. Stage 3 involved "micro"-interviews with most senior managers and resort executives (Managing Director, Resort Director, F&B Director, Rooms Director, etc.), plus a 15-minute sample training session with a feedback session. This exhaustive process instilled confidence in leadership and provided valuable insight.
- Tell me about a time when something went very wrong and you had to fix it.
Fitness Instructor
The whole process took a while. I had a very brief 10-minute interview where they didn't ask much about my fitness background. After that, I was asked to attend a fitness class to show what I could instruct. I wasn't given any details about what to expect, when to arrive, or what to do. I ended up waiting in the lobby for an hour, watching the class because nobody told me what to do, even though I was early and tried to signal the trainer. The trainer was busy with a client, so I didn't want to interrupt. They knew I was waiting but never called me over. After the class, I talked with my interviewer about gym stuff, and they said they'd call me in a few days. But I just got an email saying I wasn't selected. It felt like I never really got a chance to show what I could do.
- What are your thoughts on group fitness classes?
Room Attendant
They called the day after I applied and set up an interview for the next day. When I got there, it was easy to find my way. I didn't have to wait long before the interviewer came and gave me his card. It was a really chill and professional interview. The manager was nice.
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult customer and how you solved the situation.
