First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GrafTech International.
Engineer
It was a typical phone interview process. The initial phone screens went smoothly and I was quickly told I would know the decision in less than two weeks. I sent several emails but got no answer, not even a courtesy to tell me they hadn't picked me for the position. There were two interviews, each lasting about 20-25 minutes. They were professional during the interviews.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations?
Applications Engineer
After the initial phone screens went well, I got invited for an in-person interview that lasted all day. I began by giving a presentation about my current business for about 45-60 minutes. After that, I had back-to-back interviews with two people each time, and they didn't ask the same questions often. It was a tough but not unpleasant day.
- Can you tell me about your biggest weaknesses?
Temporary Secretary
I was recruited through a temp agency that presented three candidates. I had an interview with the HR Manager, and it was pretty relaxed. They initially chose someone else, but then that person left after a month, so they called me back. I later found out the other candidate was picked because she was younger than me.
- Could you describe your previous work experiences?
- What is your educational background and training?
Laborer
We had an interview with some of the bosses, and then there was a test for math and micrometer measurements to see if you can use measurement skills. We also asked questions to see if you can work on a team to do jobs and finish them on time with good quality.
- Can you use measurement skills?
- Can you work on a team to get jobs done on time with good quality?
