It was a smooth process. We talked through my resume and projects. Then they asked me about data warehouse, ETL pipelines, data modeling, and data architectures. They finished by letting me ask questions about the role.

I had a take home assessment that tested my pandas skills, ability to write unit tests, and an additional task related to APIs. I was given 5 days to finish it, which felt like a reasonable amount of time given the difficulty and allowed for some exploration.

Technical Coding

The recruiters were fine, but the take-home assignment was a real turn-off. It has 5 parts: ETL, database, database design, charts/APIs, and machine learning. You have 48 hours to finish it. I decided not to do it because it's way too time-consuming and the tasks are super boring and don't seem related to the actual work at Govtech. Plus, it's weird that the take-home is a public repo on Github.

  • Can you tell me about yourself?
