Technical Coding

I went for an in-person interview and it all went smoothly. The next step was a link to an online coding question I had to complete in any language I wanted. They only gave me these instructions. So I opened the question and coded the solution in my preferred editor (VS Code), then pasted the completed solution into the webpage's textarea to verify. Everything was good. I submitted the solution on the webpage and waited for the next step. But nothing happened. After 3 weeks I followed up asking about the status. No reply. I had to follow up again and finally got an email saying I was rejected for copying my solution, with no opportunity to defend myself. I only then learned there was video recording of my work in the website's editor. Of course, all my work was done in my text editor, so none of that was in the video. It was really disappointing because I took time off work to visit in person, only to be rejected at the slightest sign of a problem. So be careful of the video playback even if they don't mention it and try to do the initial interviews by phone or email to avoid wasting PTO.

Behavioral Technical

The hiring process felt like a waste of time. I was emailed by the head of marketing to set up a phone interview with her and another employee. At the scheduled time, only the other employee called, without the head of marketing. While this is a minor point, it was strange not to get an explanation, especially since the conversation was already a bit cumbersome. The main issue arose when the interviewer described what she was looking for. She mentioned wanting to 'make sure' I had enough face-to-face customer engagement, implying my previous account manager role lacked this. I had researched the job description, and GovPilot's posting didn't emphasize this as an outside sales role. When I confirmed my experience was in inside sales, she seemed satisfied. This felt like a waste of time because this question could have been easily addressed via email. GovPilot should clarify in the job description that the Account Manager role involves significant outside sales responsibilities, as many B2B companies use Business or Sales Development Managers for that function.

Applied for the Business Analyst role in Nov 2020. Had a call with HR and passed. Then had a second round with two interviewers and passed that too, getting an invite for a third interview. Never heard back after that, despite multiple emails to HR and hiring managers. The company seems very unorganized and doesn't respect candidates' time.

Applied online for a Content Creator role. Got an interview invite. Met some employees and they asked straightforward questions about my background and qualifications. I also got a writing assignment to complete. After I submitted it, GovPilot offered me the job.
