First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Government Executive Media Group.
Marketing Associate
I had an initial interview with the hiring manager and then a second interview with another associate. Both interviewers were nice and asked good questions. While the interview itself was good, the overall candidate experience wasn't great. I followed up and got ghosted. After putting in time for two interviews, I expected at least a rejection email. Being ghosted felt rude and left a bad impression.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at GovExec?
Assistant Editor
The interview process was quite relaxed and conversational. Make sure to come prepared with interesting questions. You'll start with a casual phone chat, then move on to two virtual interviews via Teams. It's important to be ready to discuss your experience and have specific examples ready, rather than just repeating what's on your resume.
- What sparked your interest in this particular role and our company?
- Can you share some anecdotes from your experience that relate to this role?
- Do you have any unique and engaging questions for us?
Associate Producer
Since it's Covid times, the interview process is pretty standard. Everything's done remotely. It starts with a phone call, then a one-on-one video interview, followed by a 3-hour video interview where you speak with multiple people back-to-back.
- What about this job makes you want to apply?
Reporter
I had a Zoom interview with editors, and then was supposed to have a second interview with more senior editors and reporters. I didn't make it to that second interview though. The interviewers were really nice and asked some good questions.
- How do you go about finding sources?
