& Process

Had a couple interviews. First was a quick 30 min call with HR. Then met with the IT Director and the Manager. One interview was behavioral and about expectations. The other was a technical interview. It was pretty easy and I heard back within a week.

The people I interviewed with were really nice. Just make sure you go to the right building because there are three on the col-de-sac. Then someone at the desk will buzz you in, or you can call the extension they gave you in your interview email. When you get to the meeting room, they'll have you fill out a hiring form for HR. After that, you'll take a personality test that's pretty useless and probably not used for consideration. Then there's a basic skills test that someone with good common sense could pass, but an engineering student could get a really good grade on it. It's all about gears and friction, like 'If this gear moves this way and the other one goes this way, which way does the third one go?' It's all illustrated. I got an 85 on the test, but when she graded it, I argued all my answers and she liked that. After that, she asked me about my skills and experience, then gave me a tour. That was it.

It started with a 15-minute phone screening, then a one-hour unpaid assessment that you do on your own time. Those questions were really repetitive and felt more like a personality test than anything to do with the actual job. After that, I had an in-person interview with two supervisors who asked typical interview questions. The next day, they called to offer me a different job at a much lower pay than what I applied for. They seem to want someone who's already doing the exact same job, not someone who can learn it. If a resume doesn't fit exactly, they shouldn't waste people's time.

The interview was a one-on-one with the hiring manager. They asked some basic resume questions and talked about the company. They were looking for CAD experience, ability to work independently, and enthusiasm.
