First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Google Cloud.
Software Engineer
The whole interview process was pretty straightforward and they let me know what to expect. First, there was a screening call to see if I was a good fit and talk about my background. Then, I had about one or two interviews that were either technical or case-based, focusing on how I'd handle real-world stuff. The last part was a chat about culture and values with some of the senior people. They kept me in the loop the whole time and made sure I knew what was coming next.
- Can you describe a challenging problem you tackled previously and detail your thought process, the alternatives you weighed, and what happened in the end?
Software Engineer
You'll need to practice a lot of DSA and System design questions. For DSA, the focus is on optimal solutions. For System Design, you need to elaborate on the different tradeoffs. Also, for Googliness, make sure you understand Google culture; books like 'How Google Works' can help. If you're from Big Tech companies, this interview shouldn't be too difficult.
- In the Googliness interview, how do you focus on handling difficult situations at work?
Software Engineer
So for the senior role at Google, it's a bunch of interviews. You start with a phone screen, then you get into the technical interviews, which cover coding and system design. There are also behavioral interviews. They're looking at how you solve problems, if you can lead, and if you fit the culture. Gotta show you can work with others, communicate well, and you know your stuff technically at a high level.
- Can you walk me through how you would approach solving a specific problem?
