Coding Technical Behavioral Presentation

The interviews were fine but extensive (over 6 hrs total), and they couldn't be bothered to send a rejection email. It takes 30 seconds! The stages were: Recruiter call, then a live coding technical screen (reasonable/practical, also the recruiter sent a great doc about what to expect), followed by a virtual "onsite" which included a timed coding exercise and a review of it (Practical exercise, but 40 minutes was not a realistic amount of time to complete it or to deliver the code quality they clearly expected. The review felt a bit off, it was nit-picky, not very friendly). Then we discussed Architecture and career goals, API design, and Product, Design and Cross Functional topics. The recruiting scheduling tool needs an overhaul. It rarely had any available time slots, or only offered 6-hour time blocks that include unreasonable working hours like 6:45am or 7:45pm. All of this was fine, but after over 6 hours of time spent interviewing, plus scheduling and prep time, it was radio silence for weeks!

Behavioral Technical Coding System Design

First, I had a call with a Recruiter to go over open positions, it was about 15 to 30 minutes. Then, I had a 30-minute phone screen with the hiring manager where we discussed my background and experience. Following that, another 30-minute phone screen with the manager where I was asked technical questions about SQL, Regex, my past work on architecture, and high-level implementation details. Next up was a 1-hour coding interview with two Engineers, where I had to answer three questions. Finally, I had a 1-hour System Design interview with two Engineers and a 30-minute Behavioral Interview with the VP.

Confirmed questions5 questions
  • Could you describe a past project where you contributed to the architecture?
  • What SQL queries can you write, for example joins and counts?
  • Can you solve string problems that get progressively more complex and require varied outputs?

Coding Behavioral

The interview cut the coding portion short just because I forgot that "array.includes" exists while feeling nervous, and was also rude in his feedback towards me. The interview only lasted 10-15 minutes instead of the full 45 minutes due to this interviewer's boredom. I had said the honest truth about why I had left other jobs, and they had taken it as a negative. I felt less than human interviewing with them, and I'd recommend they maybe do some training in empathy which seems to be lacking.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you add code to this OOP Javascript add function to add an item to a dictionary that has a label and a collection property?
  • If you proceed past the initial coding portion, the next step involves retrieving a property from the given state within the get object.
  • Following that, the task is to remove an item.
