Behavioral Presentation

It was a pretty standard interview process. First, a recruiter phone screen, then a hiring manager interview, followed by a portfolio presentation, and finally, a wrap-up interview with the cross-functional team. The process was mostly smooth, and I enjoyed meeting the designers. I would have given it a thumbs-up if it ended there, but the recruiter contacted me the next day about a different design role, saying the HM thought I was perfect for it. I had to go through another round of interviews with a new team, but didn't get that role either. The reason for the thumbs-down was the recruiter calling me at 8 am on a Monday to deliver the rejection news with a dismissive "it is what it is," which was a rough start to the week. While I appreciate being considered for another position, it was an unnecessary emotional rollercoaster.

Case Technical Coding Other

Started with a recruiter phone screen. Then had a 45-minute interview with the hiring manager where we discussed two case studies. The first case study was about how to figure out if the data indicated we should change a marketing approach. After that, I had a block of interviews back-to-back with three different people: one for an ML case study, one for a SQL interview, and one for an analytical thinking scoping case study.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process was okay. The company is doing well, considering the market. It was pretty straightforward, but they take forever to schedule interviews even after submitting availability. This was the longest wait I've had between interviews. To the recruiter: Please don't waste candidates' time. You have to let them know if they weren't selected instead of them chasing you for you to say, 'Oh, I'm sorry, you were not selected.' You have to be ready for some resume related questions. The interviewer seemed disinterested after a point. Even if you ask questions, you are still left with 0 feedback.

Presentation Technical

First, I had a chat with the recruiter. Then, I talked with the Director of Project Management. After that, there was a panel interview where I had to present a take-home assignment. The assignment was about building a software service for scheduling car maintenance appointments. It had a few parts: deciding on first release functionality, defining success, drawing a process flow diagram (thinking about all the people involved), and writing acceptance criteria for one of the stories (like scheduling, canceling, modifying, confirming, or reminding about an appointment).

  • Can you illustrate the process flow for creating a new appointment, taking into account all relevant user types?
