First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GoLinks Enterprises.
HR Generalist
I had 2 interviews. First was a Recruiter Screening with the CEO/Founder, then a Hiring Manager interview also with the CEO/Founder. I had to do a case study/15 min presentation to discuss with the founder. He said he'd get back to me in about 2 weeks since he'd be out for an offsite, but I never heard back. Total waste of my time.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- How do you handle managing multiple projects simultaneously?
Fullstack Engineer
So first you do this HackerRank thing. Then there's a Hackday, you gotta code a project in like 3-4 hours, and then present it. After that, there's a final interview to see if you're a good fit.
- Regarding the HackerRank, what were the multiple choice questions about frontend and backend interactions with axios?
- Can you describe the SQL question that involved combining 2 tables?
- What was the medium Javascript question asked during the HackerRank?
Tech Support Intern
It started with a straightforward chat with the head of People Ops about the internship and what the next interview would be like. After that, there was another interview with people from the IT department. I didn't go any further with the interviews because the first chat was a really bad experience.
- Can you discuss your coursework or any prior experience you have?
Senior Software Engineer
First, I had a phone screen with the recruiter where we reviewed my resume, the position, and company details. Then, I did a technical interview with two engineers via Google Meet, which involved a standard coding interview with screen sharing. The final round was a video chat with the founder, intended as a 'meet and greet'. I did well in the technical interview, explaining my solutions and thought process clearly, and felt I was a good fit. However, there seemed to be a disconnect between the recruiter/engineers and the founder. The founder focused on minor resume details and didn't seem to listen when I answered questions, requiring some to be repeated. He also seemed to dismiss my experience, suggesting I was only qualified for entry-level roles despite my 10+ years of experience and current Lead level. He asked for solutions in plain JavaScript (the technical interview was in React) and didn't understand my answers. I decided to withdraw my application due to concerns about further frustrating interactions with the founder. My recommendation to GoLinks is to ensure alignment between recruiting, engineering, and the founder's expectations. The founder could also benefit from actively listening to candidate feedback and the interview team's input.
- What are some standard software engineering coding interview questions in React?
