Graphic Designer
It was pretty easy, I first had a phone interview where they asked about my past experience and how I work as a designer. Then, they flew me out for an in-person interview. I spoke with the creative director about the job and the company, and also about what the design is like for their different business lines. They looked over some of my portfolio. After that, I met with most of the marketing team and they asked me some questions as a group. We then went to lunch and I headed home.
- Can you describe your design process?
- What makes you want to work for this company?
- Tell me about your experience as a designer.
Certified Nursing Assistant
I was contacted about 3 weeks after applying online and asked if I could come in the same day. The interaction felt less like an interview and more like a tour and overview of the facility. I learned that teamwork is poor at this location and there are issues that might jeopardize their accreditation. The PRN position involved managing around 16-17 patients, which is a high number, and the salary offered was low. While I don't mind starting at $8/hr, the provided raise structure showed it would take years to reach $10/hr. This would only be acceptable with better teamwork and fewer patients. I was told I'd receive a call to speak with the Director of Nursing to share my decision. I never received this call, so I assume the position was filled, but I would not have accepted it.
- Can you tell me about your experience as a CNA?
Executive Director
Was asked to step into an Executive Director role on an interim basis, with a decision about a permanent placement to be made within a month via a formal process. The interview process extended until May, following a swift and intense trip to Dallas for interviews with the Divisional VP and SVP. After the interviews, I was left waiting. The VP showed minimal engagement, rarely making eye contact beyond her computer screen. Neither the VP nor the SVP asked substantial interview questions. I was informed that the rest of the team was in favor of my candidacy. The company repeatedly requested I extend my interim contract. Despite positive feedback, the job was never formally offered. The extended duration of the process was disappointing, and I felt exploited by the company.
- What are your opinions of the consulting staff?
CNA
I trained at my location during my CNA program. It was suggested that we apply to our training locations, so I did. I got a callback within a week, had a short interview, and was hired on the spot. From application to first day of work it took 2 weeks. Within this two weeks I was called back, had an interview, called to say I was hired, got a drug test, took a two day orientation to watch safety videos, and then 4 days of actual orientation before my first day of work.
- What would you do if your coworker needed help with something?
- What would you do if you had a family emergency and needed time off?
