My experience interviewing at Golden Helix was great - the process was super clear and professional. It started with a chat with the hiring manager, then I met with the rest of the team. After that, there was a technical part where I had to demo some software and talk about a project I'd worked on. The last interview was with the CEO. I really liked how open they were throughout the whole thing and how each step gave me a good idea of what the job is actually like and who I'd be working with. A lot of what we talked about in the interviews lined up with the training that's part of the job, which will make starting easier. The team seemed really focused on making sure it was a good fit for both of us. I felt like they respected me, I felt prepared, and I'm excited about the possibility of joining.

My experience with Golden Helix was quite disappointing. After the first interview, I waited three weeks without any word, then got an invitation for a second interview. I booked it quickly, but they cancelled it last minute, stating they'd already hired someone else. It was really frustrating and unprofessional. If they were still interviewing, they shouldn't have sent the second interview invite. It shows bad coordination and disrespect for candidates' time. A company's hiring process shows its culture. If this is how they treat potential hires, I'd be hesitant about how they treat employees. Honesty and follow-through are important, and Golden Helix failed on both.

So my first interview was online, you know, because of COVID. We just used some meeting app. They asked me some standard stuff, and then I was told to check out some of their e-books. I did that over the next week. Then, I met in person with the same person. She asked me about bioinformatics software, which is what they do. After that, I talked to two other people from the company, one from Sales and one from the Field Application Scientist team. They both asked me about NGS and my past. The last step was meeting the CEO, who obviously asked a lot about those company materials I was given at the start.

The interview process was really informative, productive, and engaging. They were very transparent throughout. It spanned about 4 weeks, involving both Zoom calls and in-person meetings. Because the company is in a technical field, it was expected that I'd do some research beforehand, even digging a bit deeper than just the basics. It was a pretty streamlined process overall, and I felt like they were very clear about the role and the company's direction. The trickiest part for me was getting up to speed on the industry and services, as my background isn't in bioinformatics or SaaS marketing. The hiring manager was cool about it though and pointed me towards resources to help me learn.
