Assistant General Manager
You'll meet with the location's general manager. They'll ask you about yourself, how close you live to the gym, and your background as a personal trainer and in management.
- What's your experience been like as a personal trainer, and have you trained anyone before?
- Can you tell me about your experience in a management role?
- How long have you been doing personal training?
General Manager
My interview experience was really unprofessional. In mid-August 2018, I interviewed with the District Manager for a General Manager role in the DC metro area. About 15 minutes into the interview, I found out the position was already filled, which he admitted he'd known for a week. He could have let me know when I confirmed the appointment a week before or even on the day of the interview. I had a really long trip for this - 12 hours round trip driving and I stayed overnight in town. I was pretty mad but kept it together. During the interview, the District Manager wasn't prepared at all; he didn't have my resume and couldn't find it on his computer. I mean, I get that for entry-level stuff, but not for a General Manager position. We ended up using my laptop to go through my resume. The only good thing was that he answered my questions clearly and explained how Gold's Gym usually promotes from within and only looks outside if they can't find anyone internally.
- What do you anticipate being the most frequent daily challenge you'll face in this role?
General Manager
Since I was already an employee and knew the company, I applied for the General Manager position when it was posted internally. I then met with a panel to discuss how I could be a valuable asset in the role.
- What value can you bring to the company?
