The interview felt more like an interrogation than a conversation. Instead of open-ended questions, the recruiter went through my resume role by role, asking me to explain my responsibilities. They also asked specific questions about my layoff, which I thought was inappropriate given how common layoffs are now. I explained it was a mass layoff and that was all there was to it. When I had questions, the recruiter seemed uninterested. The whole approach felt less like a screening and more like an interrogation, showing little emotional intelligence, especially regarding the layoff discussion. It left me with a very bad impression of the company.

It was a multi-step interview process, but it moved along pretty smoothly. I got in touch with someone at the company and they reached out via email to schedule a phone screen with the hiring manager. After that went well, I was asked to come in for an on-site meeting with HR. She then shared her thoughts with the hiring manager, and they decided to move me forward for more formal interviews. The first day involved one-on-one meetings with about 4 or 5 people from different departments. After that, the interview team got together to discuss their notes and give feedback to the hiring manager, who then decides if I move to round 2. I was invited back for round 2, which was similar to round 1, but with a different group of interviewers, and I had to present my take on a business problem. GOJO wasn't trying to take my ideas, they just wanted to see how I think, present, and interact with others. They were very professional throughout the whole thing.

So first there was a screening phone call with HR that was about 30-60 minutes, then another screening phone call with the hiring supervisor, also 30-60 minutes. Then a day long interview that had six 46-60 minute interviews. After that, another day long interview, this one had six 46-60 minute interviews and also a 40 minute presentation with 20 minutes for questions.

It was a bit of a complicated process, honestly. They didn't seem to focus much on my actual skills or experience. Instead, I got a lot of standard questions that felt like they were just pulled from a script, not tailored to the specific job or what I'd done before. Some interviewers didn't even seem to know the details of the role.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Can you share an experience where you had to make a choice, explain how you arrived at that choice, and detail what you learned from the outcome?
  • Walk me through an instance from your background, detailing your decision-making steps and the takeaways you had.
