Client Service Representative
It was a really thorough interview process. First, I had a call with a recruiter, then the hiring manager. After that, I interviewed with a team member and a cross-functional leader. I also had to complete an exercise that was relevant to the role. The final interview was focused on assessing culture fit. Everyone I met was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about where the company is headed.
- Can you describe your experience collaborating with different departments to ensure customer retention?
Engineering Manager
The interview process was positive overall, excluding interactions with the acquisition specialist, which were solely via email. Even initial information gathering about me was through an electronic form. There were three main stages: a technical round, a leadership and values assessment with the hiring manager. I felt good about it all up to the end, but the acquisition specialist never followed up after the final stage. It would be good to at least get the feedback given the time investment.
- Can you share stories about technically challenging situations?
- How would you approach system design?

Product Marketing Manager
I was contacted by the internal recruiter on LinkedIn about an open position. The recruiter screen was pretty standard, except for a strange comment about the role being open for a while because they hadn't gotten good applicants 'like me.' We agreed on salary, and since I had years of experience with a similar product, I moved on to the 6 interview rounds, which were spread out over 2 months. I met with the hiring manager, other team members from different departments, and the CMO. The team and hiring manager seemed good and competent. The CMO was also nice, but seemed to focus on problematic employees when answering open-ended questions. When asked about company culture, he said it's top-down and not his job, which seemed to confirm some online reviews. After the final interview with the CMO, the recruiter called to say the team liked me, confirmed salary and timing, and expressed strong interest. They also mentioned they had one more candidate to interview but were only doing so because 'it would be rude to cancel,' and that they'd call with good news soon after. The way they talked about other applicants was quite off-putting, considering how many talented people are looking right now. They didn't call when they said they would, so I followed up a few times over the next couple of weeks with no response. I'd almost forgotten about them until this morning when I got an automated request for feedback on their interview process, about 1.5 months after they ghosted me. I figured I'd share my thoughts here. It was a really odd and unprofessional experience, disrespectful to everyone involved. I wouldn't recommend it.
- What are your absolute requirements for a work environment or company culture?
Social Media Manager
So the interview process had 4 parts: 2 Zoom calls, a take-home task, and then a final call. The first two Zoom calls went great, really enjoyed chatting with the recruiter and my potential manager. Learned heaps about the company and role. There was about a week between those calls. Then, after another two weeks, they sent over a task. I did the task, and they said the feedback was really positive and wanted me to meet more people from the team. Waited another week, then had a call with another manager. This call was rough, they seemed annoyed and twisted my words, which felt deliberate. I thought I answered okay though, maybe just read the room wrong. Nope. After ages waiting between interviews, got an email two days after that last call saying no offer. No reason, no feedback, just that they didn't think they could offer me what I was looking for. Felt pretty bummed out since the rest was so good, and that last call felt like a formality after 4 interviews. I asked for clarification and feedback, and got a blunt reply saying I messed up the task. Then why the positive feedback and move to the next round? Apparently, in the final call, I brought up concerns about managing expectations in a team where everyone pulls equal weight. I didn't even know about this equal team structure, it was never mentioned. My 'concerning' response was that if a senior manager/lead asked me to prioritize something, I would. This seems totally reasonable and based on my experience. Later, a friend who interviewed there had the exact same experience, even the same generic rejection email. Honestly, the whole thing felt like a big waste of everyone's time.
- What's your approach to prioritizing tasks?
- How do you handle situations where you need to manage expectations within a team that values equal contribution from everyone?
- Would you follow a prioritization request from a senior manager or lead, even if it meant deviating from team norms?
