Controller
The interview process included competency-based and scenario questions. They also use situational questions. Another location does an assessment in Maths and English, where stronger math skills improve your chances because this job uses math often.
- How have you handled stress in the past, or how would you handle it?
- Describe how you would handle stress situationally.
- How do you deal with stress at work?
Bus Driver
The process took about two weeks. I got a call to come in for an assessment day at 8:45 AM at one of the garages, and they said we'd be there most of the day. When we arrived, we had to give our passport and license to the receptionist for copying. Then we were taken to a classroom for a literal and numeral test. After that, we waited to see if we passed. If we did, a nice gentleman took us for a test drive in a big van to see how we handled the road and driving a bus. Following the drive, there was an interview with typical questions, and they showed us the usual bus driver schedule. After the interview, we were told if we got the job.
- What is your level of flexibility?
- What motivates you to become a bus driver?
Business Analyst
The application process to get to interview stage took 9 weeks, this was a cv submission process. Note this is a contract role. The hiring manager briefs about the company, the role as a Business Analyst and the recent product launches which he had little knowledge of. The hiring manager explained at the beginning of the interview there had been a restructure and he had been handed a new digital transformation work stream, that he had only seen a few of the products before the interview. During the interview the hiring manager stressed he wanted a Business Analyst who could sell the business benefits of office 365 championing the change and adoption, it was at this point where I started to question the actual role as the hiring manager was stressing that he wanted a pure Business Analyst but what he was describing was a Hybrid O365 Business Change Analyst /Consultant role. Considering the Hiring Manager had taken 2 months to review cv's for this contract role it came as a little surprise when he said he wants to do a 2nd interview with an office 365 expert, this made the hiring manager appear disorganised, why had he not organised the interviews so that he had an office 365 expert in the room at the same time. Going through to a 2nd interview stage would make this application process 2-3 months long. The hiring manager ends the interviews with questions that would suggest a 2nd interview would be confirmed. He also asks if there would be a willingness to go from contract to perm. The agency called with feedback saying the hiring manager will not be progressing with the next stage. He had rejected all candidates because he thinks he is looking for more of an office 365 consultant than a Business Analyst. The recruitment consultant did confirm that the hiring manager would be re-advertising the role as a Office 365 SME. Despite the role confusion, the hiring manager came across as an approachable and friendly person but there were was an obvious issue within the department as the restructure had followed the Business Analyst team manager leaving, the business analyst leaving as well as a demotion for the person who had been running the project previously.
- Your CV shows a wealth of experience from a Business Analyst, Change Management to Project Management. What would you say you prefer as I am looking for a Business Analyst, this is not a hybrid role?
- Would you be willing to go from contract to perm?
- Can you sell the business benefits of office 365 championing the change and adoption?
Bus Driver
I first applied online and then got called for an assessment day. The assessment day included a written test and a driving assessment. I personally thought the driving assessment standard was way too high, they expect perfection with zero mistakes. I didn't make it past that stage. I would have preferred if the driving assessment was more like the official driving exam. The person assessing my driving was way too strict.
- Questions on comprehension, reporting accidents, numerical problems, highway code, and customer interaction.
- Test on comprehension, accident reporting, numerical skills, highway code, and everyday customer dealings.
