Marketing
I had a quick phone call at first to see why I wanted the job and if I knew the beauty/digital media industry. Then, the next week I did an in-person interview with two people that lasted under an hour and was pretty chill. The very next afternoon, I interviewed with the company president. He spent most of the hour talking about himself and his management ideas, like how employees should always seem happy and never mention personal issues. He barely touched on the job or work itself, which was weird. He also kept saying that since it's a new role, I'd have to "prove my worth," making me feel like the interview was really about "why should I pay you?"
- How will you prove your worth to the company?
Sales
The interview started with a 1:1 chat, then a phone call, and finally another 1:1 with the VP of Sales. I was kinda surprised when I got to the place, it's this huge warehouse that they call the corporate office. Didn't really like it. Then, walking in, the first thing that hit me was this really bad smell. I looked around at the employees in the room, and they all looked like they just woke up, while I was dressed up professionally. The VP of sales's desk is right there in the middle of this converted warehouse, which felt pretty weird. The interview itself kicked off at a table right in the middle of the room, so everyone could hear everything. Just felt super unprofessional. Then they started asking questions, and wow, some of them were really out of line!
- Tell me about your siblings.
- Are your parents still together?
- Are you married?
Outside Sales
I got a call and scheduled an initial phone interview with Cassandra, who was knowledgeable and very nice. Then I had an interview with Velma, who went into great detail about the position and asked if I'd even want it if it were offered. I really liked her and her process. After that, we spoke again, and then I was invited to Houston for a ride-along. This was a chance for me to see if I really wanted the job and for Velma to see if she wanted me. I thoroughly enjoyed Velma and the experience. The ride-along was exactly what I expected. Overall, the phone and Houston meetings were good experiences.
- Can you explain your motivation for wanting to join our company over your previous one?
Sales Consultant
It was a super long interview process. First, I spoke with the recruiter, then HR, then the Regional Manager, and the VP of Sales. After that, I did a ride-along with the Regional Manager. Then I had to interview with the VP of Sales again. They eventually made me a job offer. It was totally absurd, I almost took another job because of it. I also had to provide 10 references.
- Were you able to perform skincare application?
- Were you able to perform makeup application?
- Do you have product knowledge for skincare and makeup?
