I had a phone interview with a few different people at different times. Then, I had an in-person interview where I met with the same people one by one in a conference room. I felt good about how things went overall. When I followed up a few times about the job, I didn't hear back. Eventually, I got a call back. The HR rep said something that hinted I was too old, without directly saying it. This happened after I was rejected.

The interview process was quite lengthy, spanning approximately 7 rounds. It involved interactions with HR/recruiting, investment team members, the CIO, and the president. A significant part of the process included two stock pitch presentations, which was time-consuming, but understandable given the small, close-knit team and infrequent openings. Communication could have been better at times, as they used outsourced recruiters for scheduling. Expectations for the stock pitch weren't always clear. The process felt drawn out, and while people were pleasant during the interviews, they seemed less so afterwards. Feedback indicated that questions about poor performance and product marketability were not well-received, despite the company having strong-performing products.

So I started with a general interview with HR, then I had 4 more interviews with people on the team who were higher up. After that, I met with the Regional Director and they gave me an offer pretty quickly. The whole thing took about 5-6 weeks. The HR person wasn't super clear about the timeline and kind of dodged my questions about what to expect. When they gave me an offer, it was pretty low, so I did some research and got some market data to show why I thought I deserved more. The HR rep cut me off and was really rude about it, talking down to me and saying I wasn't worth what I was asking for. She could have just said she'd check with the hiring manager or something, which is how it usually goes with salary stuff. It was handled really unprofessionally and left a bad impression. I really liked the team though, and I'd recommend them to anyone, but the HR rep really messed up. I declined the offer on the phone.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process was pretty simple. First, there was a phone screening with HR. Then, a final round interview that lasted an hour with two senior team members. The questions were mostly about my resume, why I wanted to work at the firm and in this role, and the conversations were more about getting to know me than testing my technical skills. It felt like a mix of behavioral questions and a professional chat.
