The interview process involved tough questions that required out-of-the-box thinking. I found it challenging and didn't get everything right, but I gave it my best shot. It was an interesting experience overall.

Applied online and then had an online video presentation. If that passed, the next step was a networking event. We were given business cards to hand out to traders/HR, and it was advised not to ask traders overly technical questions but to keep it simple. Also, give a card to HR as they don't speak to them. The goal was to aim for 4-5 cards. I passed this stage. The next stage was an interview with a smart global team of 2 people. This interview felt like a test where they expected all questions to be answered correctly. Glencore doesn't even interview you until the final round. I was ignored after the interview with the team, which I thought was rude, and I never received any feedback or rejection notice. The whole process is very long. My friend mentioned that the next stage involved an assessment centre with trading games and a negotiation exercise. After that, there are 6 interviews with Glencore in the final round. The company's interview process is inefficient and ignoring me after the interview was rude, especially after spending £100 on train tickets to London and wasting time on other stages. Overall, it felt like a joke.

The hiring process is managed by Glencore HR and Smart Global Trading. First, your CV and cover letter are reviewed. Then, you're invited to a networking event at the Mayfair Hotel in early November, where you can meet people from Glencore and Smart Global Trading (who are mostly ex-BP traders and operations). If that goes well, you'll have an interview at Glencore's offices in mid-November with two people from Smart Global Trading and one from Glencore HR. This is where I was rejected. The next stage, at the end of November, is an assessment centre with a trading simulation and a group exercise. You can ask for feedback after the interview stage. The whole process is very thorough and professional, and the Smart Global team makes it a positive experience.
