Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Glencore.
Cost Accountant
I had an interview with a panel of three people: HR, the Hiring Manager, and the Line Manager. They were all very nice and made me feel comfortable. The whole thing was a pretty good experience.
- Could you explain the distinction between operational and capital expenditure?
Management Accountant
It was a really chill interview, not super academic. They were more interested in my personality. They kept asking about how I'd handle corrupt supervisors and if I'd report suspected fraud. They also asked right away if I speak Afrikaans. This was for the mine in Brits.
- Do you speak Afrikaans?
- What are the different ways to depreciate assets?
- How would you approach depreciating the cranes at the mine?
Accountant
There will be a few interview rounds. First, you'll meet the Practice Manager, then some Partners. It's a professional Top 100 firm with great benefits. Expect a test. You won't have client contact; that's for the partners. You'll do the work while the partner talks to the client. Some might like this, but I prefer talking to clients myself and helping them.
- What is your reason for leaving your current job?
