First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Glassdoor.
Front End Software Engineer
It was a really smooth and collaborative process, and they were very transparent. Scheduling was quick and easy, and they responded to all our questions and feedback clearly and objectively. The interview itself wasn't stressful at all and was actually quite informative. Overall, it felt like a really healthy and positive experience.
- Can you tell me about a time you encountered a challenge and how you managed to resolve it?
Software Engineer
The hiring process went pretty well. Initially, I had a recruiter call where they laid out the entire process and what to expect. I mentioned my minimum salary requirement, and the recruiter confirmed it was achievable, which was important for me to continue. After that, there was one hiring manager interview, followed by a virtual onsite with four parts: two technical interviews and two behavioral ones. Shortly after the onsite, a different recruiter reached out because my original one was out of office. This recruiter mentioned an offer was likely and we revisited the salary expectations. They said they'd check with an executive. After a week with no update, I followed up. They explained some personal matters had delayed the discussion with the executive, which was understandable. A few days later, they confirmed they had news, but upon discussing compensation, it turned out their offer was actually less than my initial 'doable' number. It was frustrating, feeling like the whole process was a waste of time in the end.
- Asked about Java Core concepts and some LeetCode easy/medium level problems.
Software Engineer
It started with a phone screen with the recruiter, then a technical interview with the hiring manager. We talked about past experiences and what to expect at Glassdoor. The manager was trying to gauge my interest and find a good project for me. They mostly asked me about front-end development, which was a bit surprising given I'm a backend developer. The biggest frustration was with the recruiter and the lack of communication. She spoke very quickly during the initial screen, so I had to keep asking her to repeat herself. I also wouldn't hear back for weeks sometimes, even though I was told I'd get an update in a few days.
- Could you explain the optimal use cases for linked lists versus hash maps?
