Product Program Manager
I was super excited to apply to Girl Scouts because I really admire what they do. I applied online through a third-party company. They left a message asking for a call back to answer a few questions, but after I called, I didn't hear back. The next week, GS called me for an initial interview with another Program Manager. It was pretty casual and friendly. They mentioned I'd definitely have a second interview once the Product Program Director was back. I didn't ask about salary then because it felt like the interviewer was my peer, and it was just the first step. The following week, that third-party company called again, not knowing I'd already interviewed. They wanted to share the salary range, which was $32-$42K. This was way less than I was making and hoping for. They said they'd check with GS about negotiating and call me back. Later that day, the Director called for the second interview, along with the CEO. Apparently, the third party hadn't updated her on my salary negotiation request. She explained that as a non-profit, that's the usual manager salary range at GS, and my target salary was more in line with Director level roles, but current directors seemed to have been there a long time, which I noticed on LinkedIn too. It made me think it's a good place to work if people stay. I was really bummed to turn down the second interview. The Director was nice and understood, and wished me good luck.

Program Manager
I had a phone interview where the interviewer talked about the job and then asked me about my skills, experience, interest in the role, and what questions I had. The interviewer was nice and gave a lot of details about the job, including the pay. They invited me to the office for an in-person interview the next week, but I turned it down because the salary wasn't enough for me. The whole phone chat was about 30 minutes.
- How would you contribute to this role?
Program Manager
I applied online and then got a call for a phone interview. The hiring coordinator didn't call me at the right time, so I had to call her. She said she messed up her calendar and was sorry. After the phone interview, they invited me for a panel interview, which seemed to go well. I never heard back about whether I got the job. Two weeks later, I called the hiring coordinator again to ask if they needed anything else or if the position was filled. She wasn't sure and said she'd let me know. It's been a week, and I still haven't heard back. The whole thing felt unprofessional and like a waste of time.
