The hiring manager reached out via Indeed shortly after I applied. The interview with her was about an hour long, and she was nice. We mostly talked about my past experience and how it prepared me for this role. After the interview, I heard nothing back. I followed up after a week but got no response. My guess is they thought my salary expectations were too high, even though they said they could do the lower end of my range. It's a common issue with nonprofits; they often go for cheaper candidates. My advice: ask for a salary that matches your experience and be wary of job listings that don't mention salary.
