First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gibbs & Cox.
Financial Analyst
I had a phone chat with someone and then an in-person meeting with another person. The whole thing was pretty straightforward, and the questions they asked lined up with the job description. It was also good that they could answer my questions about the role.
- Can you tell me about your experience using Excel?
Marine Engineer
The interview process was smooth, easy, and informative. They asked appropriate questions and I felt like they did not judge my answers harshly. I appreciated the interviews explaining in great detail what the job entails and the day-to-day task I would be involved in.
- Can you share an experience where your careful inspection of equipment, structures, or materials helped you find a problem or its root cause?
Manager
They still follow the "old school" interview process where you get to meet one-on-one with the people you will be working with. It was refreshing to be able to spend time with each person to discuss how they viewed the company and the role I would play in the organization.
- Were there any unexpected questions asked?
- While all discussions were detailed and informative, were any questions too difficult, or just thought provoking?
Software Engineer
I was contacted directly by the company for this role. The first step was a recruiter call with the HR rep. We discussed the job description, requirements, and reviewed my background. It seemed like they were interested. After that, my resume was supposed to be reviewed by the software team. However, a few days later, I received a rejection email saying that my experience with one of their partner clients disqualified me. I felt like my time was wasted.
- Tell me about your functional background and give me an overview of the position.
