Field Support Analyst
The initial online interviews with the recruiter and the team lead were great and felt really positive. But, my experience with the director interview was kinda different. The interview got postponed with only about 15 minutes notice, which I could manage. During our chat, the vibe was super serious and formal, and the whole interaction felt a bit stiff. It honestly felt like maybe there was some internal news or stuff going on that might have affected how the conversation went.

Compensation Specialist
This was a recruiter call, and honestly, it was the worst interview experience. I joined the video call ready to go, but the interviewer said to turn off my camera because they wouldn't be showing their face. They cut the interview short after asking just one question: 'describe your experience.' Then they asked if I had any questions. I did, but it felt like the interviewer didn't know the answers and either wanted to end it quickly or just change the subject. A basic thing I wanted to know was about the team structure – like, who else is on the team and how I'd be working with them. They responded with, 'Why does that matter?' I explained that the job description mentioned collaborating with HR team members on projects, so I was curious about those projects and who the key people involved were. I found the interviewer very unprofessional.
- Could you tell me about your background and experience?
Accounting Clerk
So I had a phone pre-screen with a HR Recruiter, they were nice. Then I had a one on one video interview with a manager, they were great but later left pretty quickly. After that, I interviewed in person with a director. It was a contract role, pretty simple work. The culture wasn't ideal though, lots of new people joining and it felt like a scramble because of a lack of support. They never actually mentioned it was a new team. Oh, and the director asked me to take off my mask, but I wasn't comfy with that at the time because of Covid.
- Tell me about your resume.
- Can you share details about a prior experience?
- I want to know about something not on your resume.

They were looking for someone with an Accounting/Business degree (BA or BS) from a 4-year university, with 2-3 years of accounting/finance experience in a medium to large business. Advanced Excel skills in Microsoft Office are required, along with effective communication with both internal and external customers. They want someone with a strong work ethic, integrity, trustworthiness, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Being a self-starter who can work well in a team or alone is important. Excellent leadership, presentation, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills are needed. Also, strong analytical, attention to detail, problem-solving, and negotiation skills. You must be able to prioritize your workload and meet deadlines. Good business acumen and the ability to work across different teams and levels are key. Finally, flexibility to adapt to change and a commitment to continuous improvement are important.
