A recruiter reached out about the role. First, there was a prescreening where I had to write about my past search relevance work for different companies and my RESTFul API experience. This took about 10 hours to get right and also involved auditing Getty Images for search issues. The first interview was with a friendly person who discussed open roles, the job description, and my fit. The second interview, scheduled two weeks later, started late. The first interviewer asked about my background, and then the second interviewer, also late, joined and I had to repeat my experiences briefly. Then we did a coding exercise and a system design. The second interviewer then asked the LeetCode 'Trapping Water' question, but I only had 4 minutes left to solve this hard problem and could only provide pseudocode. I thought I did well, especially with the system design and my relevance expertise, but the next day I was told I was 'technically weak'.

Since pair programming is important to Getty, my interview was a mock pairing session. I sat with two guys and a laptop, and was asked to solve a relatively simple coding question using TDD. They had already set up the solution in Visual Studio and stubbed out the class we were going to write. I also had a quick chat about some trivia. Finally, I had a 10 min session with my potential manager, where he asked me the normal sort of questions.

I found this role on LinkedIn. A recruiter reached out, and we set up a call with the team's Manager. This was a technical phone interview, and it went pretty well. Two days later, the recruiter contacted me again, saying the Manager really liked our chat and wanted to schedule a technical Skype interview with one of his engineers. This next round was scheduled for an hour. During this call, I was asked questions about big data and given a coding challenge. Another two days passed, and the recruiter let me know I passed and they wanted to proceed with an onsite interview. He said he'd send the schedule soon. However, the next day, the recruiter informed me it was his last day and introduced me to someone else who would be my point of contact, along with his manager. The new contact said she'd send the onsite schedule shortly, but that was the last I heard from the company.
