Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Getty Images.
Manager
HR screened me first, then I met with the hiring manager. After that, I had individual meetings with about 5 other people. Each person just read questions from a list and took notes, which felt impersonal. I talked to the hiring manager again after the panel. They said I'd hear back the next week. The job post was gone, so I followed up after a week. No response from anyone, and I saw someone else started the job a week later. It felt like a waste of my time, and I wish they'd at least let candidates know if they didn't get the position.
- Can you share an example of a situation where you...
- General behavioral questions about past experiences.
Support Manager
Standard process; First, a recruiter called to screen me. Then, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. After that, it was an onsite interview with the hiring manager and three of their direct reports who were also management level. It was a really friendly and relaxed environment. They really wanted to gauge cultural fit, skill sets, and my general work style. For example, they asked questions to see if I network internally, if I have a systematic approach to my work, and if I can proactively work with other parts of the business to get things done.
- Do you tend to reach out and network internally?
- Do you have a process or methodology for how you approach your job, specific aspects of the job/objectives?
- Can you proactively engage other areas of the business to cooperate, understand and get the job done?
Senior Manager
I had 6 interviews, each about half an hour long, all crammed into 3 hours. Recruiters kicked things off and wrapped them up. The vibe was super chill and conversational, no tough questions at all. Honestly, they mostly talked about themselves and the company, so I didn't have to say much.
- Could you write a three-page business case?
