First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Getaround.
Claims Specialist
After three interviews, the company ghosted me, and that's after I sent two follow-up emails. It's shameful and unprofessional. I don't understand how this is still acceptable nowadays.
- Professional background
- What are you currently looking for?
- How do you communicate within a team?
Customer Service Associate
The process was very pleasant and the people were very welcoming and friendly. This made me appreciate the company even more. However, the process was too long in my opinion (about a month, with case studies, etc.), only to tell me at the end that I was overqualified for the position, which they could have told me from the start.
- Tell me about your experience managing customers.
- How would you handle difficult customer situations?
- What would you do in the face of repeated internal mismanagement?
Data Analyst
The interviewer was late and gave a poor excuse, which was unprofessional. They then discussed the role, emphasizing the company isn't profitable yet. Next, some technical questions were asked, with the interviewer stating that a wrong answer would end the process. During this, I noticed the interviewer was relaying my answers on Slack to the hiring manager, and I wished I could have spoken directly to the hiring manager about my technical abilities. The final question was about window clauses, and since I couldn't answer it correctly, I knew I wouldn't proceed. It was disappointing, as I believe I'm qualified, but failing one question led to rejection. I guess it's a bullet dodged. The company's direction is uncertain, as indicated by their stock ticker $GETR.
- Can you name the three clauses associated with window functions?
Web Developer
First, an initial contact via email, then a phone call to introduce ourselves. Second, a technical test to do at home (the test is publicly available on the company's GitHub. The same test is given regardless of experience, but the level of expectation varies). Third, a debrief of the technical test: the feedback was very valuable. I really realized that I would learn a lot at Getaround. Fourth, an interview with the future manager: discussion about working methods, both individually and in a team. Fifth, an interview with the VP Product. Sixth, an interview with the VP Tech.
- How would you respond if your manager suggests an approach you disagree with?
- Could you explain your choices for class and variable naming in the test?
