Sales Representative
The hiring manager kept texting and calling me. I met with the CEO multiple times over Zoom. They both said I was getting hired (it's commission only). The hiring manager took me to lunch and explained the offer letter process. She told me to wait for my offer letter after the HR person got back from vacation... but I never got it and never heard from them again. Very unprofessional.
- Are you tough enough mentally to go from store to store selling?
Business Advocate
Really good, very informative, and thorough. Management seems solid and genuine. Great opportunity for someone self-disciplined looking to make sustainable income. They were patient with my follow-up questions. I would recommend looking into it.
- Tell me about your overall background and experience. Why do you want to work here?
- Do you have experience with cold calling?
- How many years of sales experience do you have?
Team Lead
I had a quick phone interview and then an in-person one the next week. Four days after first contact, they said I was what they were looking for. The next three weeks were a mess with stops and starts. They pitched great healthcare and being a W-2 employee, but the truth was you only get healthcare after 90 days. They said I was interviewing to lead a team, but the reality was I'd have to start as a 'business advocate' regardless of my skills or the role I interviewed for. They mentioned being vested before going public, but no one could really explain how or when that would happen. They also talked about a foundation giving $35 million to students, but it was hard to verify, and their IRS 990 didn't show that amount in disbursements. There were a lot of 'let me check and get back to you' conversations. Finally, I was told I'd start training in a week and a half. During that wait, they wanted me to create a 'sphere of influence' prospect list, which felt like an MLM tactic. It was weird they wanted me to set appointments before any product training, suggesting I pitch it as 'I'm working with this awesome company that may or may not be able to do something for your company,' which isn't how real sales pros work. They seemed fixated on Heartland, and the whole process felt like a pyramid scheme. After a lot of smoke and mirrors, I'm glad I'm not wasting my time, resources, or personal brand with this business right now.
- Do you currently have a list of potential clients, also known as your 'sphere of influence'?
Business Advocate
The interview process was long and tedious. They weren't upfront about the company's situation. They offered a compensation package, but when I went to accept it, it was no longer available. It turns out the company was losing a lot of money and was in the middle of a merger.
- Could you tell me about your previous work experience?
