It was a pretty normal interview process. I was walked through the shop and shown around. We talked about the pay scale, job expectations, workload, and schedule. Pretty standard stuff for an interview.

HR called me when I submitted my resume. They just called and said, "can you talk right now?" HR said this was a new division and he/she didn't have much information about the job. Wanted to know my experience, guess he/she didn't have time to read my resume. Spoke for a bit, said he/she would talk to the hiring manager and call me back. After one week, no call back, after another week and no call back, I asked for an update. He/she said that my salary requirements were more than they wanted to pay. This was even with my giving a very broad range. I explained that I couldn't take less, as the lowest range I provided was the salary I was earning 15 years ago.

I scheduled an interview, and at the start, I mentioned I can't start for a month, which was on my application and cover letter. The interviewer was surprised and suggested I reschedule for then, trying to end the call. I did manage to get them to admit there's a catch to their sign-on bonus: it requires a three-year commitment to the company.

It was a quick and standard interview. They asked about my experience and background, and mentioned they work with XYZ insurance companies. The questions were pretty straightforward, though some specifics might depend on the manager and location. Overall, it felt like a typical interview.
