Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Geosyntec Consultants.
Engineer
I applied and someone sent my resume along. The right person contacted me for a phone interview and asked me to apply online. Then I had coffee with the hiring manager and a peer/mentor. The next step was an in-office interview where I met the team, gave a technical presentation to SMEs both in the office and remotely via Teams, and answered some tough technical questions. We talked about the specifics, and about a week later, I got an offer.
- Tell me about your experience.
- How do you see yourself fitting into our demanding work culture, and why?
- Are you prepared to handle challenging technical questions from our subject matter experts?
Engineer
The hiring process was quite long. It included a phone interview, a lunch interview with senior management, a day-long office interview with all staff which involved a lunch presentation, and then a dinner interview with multiple senior managers. They seemed really focused on making sure I’d be a good fit in terms of personality, skills, and work ethic. It was a very comprehensive interview process.
- Can you elaborate on your previous experience, both in the office and in the field?
- What do you consider your biggest strengths and weaknesses?
- How would you go about changing a flat tire?
Engineer
I applied online and then about a month later, I got an email to set up a phone interview. It was for a co-op position in the Jacksonville, FL office and was mainly personal questions and some skill-based questions. They said if I was selected, I'd hear back in two weeks and then have another on-site or skype interview.
- In your opinion, what skills are crucial for fieldwork?
