Georgia State Government Interview Questions
& Process

The interview was in the office, with three people: my potential supervisor, someone who might be my supervisor later, and someone doing the same job elsewhere. They introduced themselves and explained they'd ask questions, and I'd get to ask mine at the end. They took turns asking prepared questions while the others wrote things down. They asked about general knowledge of the area and specific Federal and State laws relevant to the job. They also asked more standard questions, like how I saw the role in my career, if I prefer working alone or with a team, and asked for stories about managing work conflicts.

I applied online and got a call a few months later checking if I was still interested and available for an interview the next day. I said yes and was screened by the Clerk of Court, Cicely Barber. She asked me only 3 questions and said she'd pick more candidates for a panel interview later. Another guy was there for quality control. I got called back two days later for the panel interview. It had 4 people, from Superior, Magistrate, State, and Juvenile Court (I think). The first screening was super short, like 5 minutes. The panel interview was under 15 minutes. I got asked 7 or 8 questions. I totally over-prepared! None of the typical 'greatest weakness or strength' stuff you find online.

I rang up the local branch. The Administrator told me to fax my resume, then they rang me back with a date, time, and location to meet for the interview. The Administrator and the County Manager interviewed me, and most of the questions were from the Administrator.

It was a really intense background check and then a panel interview. After that, there was a drug screen, a psychological exam, and a polygraph. The actual interview part was easy, but there are a lot of steps to get through in a short amount of time.
