First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Georgia Southern University.
Tutor
It was a pretty standard interview process. They asked all the usual interview questions, like about a challenge I overcame, my strengths, and why I'm interested in the role.
- Can you tell me about a challenge you've faced and how you overcame it?
- What do you consider your strengths to be?
- What motivates you to apply for this particular job?
A/V Specialist
I had a phone chat about a job that was listed in a pretty unclear way. The interview had a lot of formal questions about my style of interacting, how I lead, and how I'd deal with a made-up scenario. They used a lot of business speak. I got asked for a second interview, but after asking some questions during the first one, I decided it wasn't the right fit. The work hours mentioned in the job description weren't right, and what they actually expected for the role was quite different.
- How would people you work for, hang out with, or work with describe you?
Graduate Assistant
The interview process was straightforward and beneficial for my future career. I didn't feel overloaded with questions. They managed the interview well, allowing each interviewer to ask me a question. Although team interviews can typically be stressful, this one felt more like a conversation among colleagues than a formal interview.
- What valuable contributions could you make to the office?
Resident Advisor
The interview process involves two main parts. First, there's a group interview where you'll collaborate with other candidates. Following that, there's an individual interview where you'll need to present your qualifications and share personal information about yourself.
- For a given random scenario, how would you respond and what guidance would you offer?
