Technical Support Specialist
I applied for a job here almost two months ago and got rejected from one of them. They never sent me anything telling me they decided to move on to another candidate. The interview itself was fine, but HR is unprofessional and does not communicate unless forced to.
- What skills would you employ in this role?
Academic Advisor
I interviewed about a year ago, assuming their process hasn't changed. It felt way too long for a job that doesn't even pay $35k/year. It took almost four hours. During that time, I met with the assistant director of the advisement center, a professor, a group of three advisors, then a whole room of advisors, and finally the director. They mostly asked the same stuff. I've had other advisor interviews that took less than an hour. So, if Georgia College's interviewing hasn't improved, they need to fix it ASAP.
- What are some common questions asked during an advisor interview?
Recruiter
I sent in my application online. The first part of the interview process was a phone call with three people from the department, and it was about 30 minutes long. They asked really basic questions that seemed prepared. After about 3 weeks, they called me back for an in-person interview that took up most of the day. About 45 minutes was spent with the same three people from the phone interview asking tougher questions. I had to get ready and then present to them as if I was already working there and at a campus fair. Then, I had a one-on-one meeting with the department head for an hour. After that, it took another 3+ weeks to get the job offer.
- Considering Georgia College mainly recruits from urban areas, how would you increase recruitment from rural areas in Georgia, and what are your thoughts on why we aren't currently connecting with that demographic?
