I applied for the internship and was contacted about 10 days later to set up an interview. The interview itself was done over Zoom and I spoke with two staff members. A week after the interview, I got a job offer. The interview focused mostly on personality and behavioral questions.

The first contact was quick and led to a video interview. After that, an in-person meeting was set up within a couple of weeks. Things went quiet for over two months after the in-person interview. They'd reach out, say I was a top candidate, and ask for my availability for more talks, which I'd give right away, but then hear nothing back for over three weeks. It felt like a lot of wasted time over three months due to really bad and unprofessional communication, or a lack of it. Maybe hiring teams should have HR handle this part.

So, it was a group interview setting. There were two managers and someone from HR present. Also, three other people interviewing with me. They would pose a question to the whole group, and whoever wanted to answer could jump in. The interviewers were very direct and to the point. Honestly, it felt like they weren't really listening. My impression was that they were just looking to fill spots quickly without much regard for qualifications. Seeing who they hired after me sort of confirmed that feeling, which is a bit disappointing. The whole thing took about an hour. Afterward, we got to take a walk around the aquarium.

I started as a volunteer and went through some initial questions about why I wanted to volunteer and my thoughts on zoos and aquariums. After being a volunteer, I applied for a job. Then I was interviewed by the department head and an HR person. I got an offer from the department within a week. It was a really nice experience, not stressful at all. Everyone was really nice.
