First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at George Fox University.
Business Operations Manager
I was given a take-home assignment, asking for 250-500 words responding to 3 scenario questions, due in 5 days. I submitted it in 2 days, and then heard nothing. I followed up a few times and was told the hiring team was still reviewing. After 2 weeks, I suddenly got an email saying the position was filled. The communication was really bad.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Campus Security Guard
I applied for the job way back in spring and then got a call from the campus security director. He asked me about my past jobs and if I could handle stress. He was nice and seemed to know what he was doing. He asked some funny stuff too, like if I could jump over buildings. After that, he said he'd let me know, and I ended up getting a call and an email saying I got the job.
- Tell me about a time you had to manage a difficult coworker.
- Are you capable of leaping over tall buildings in a single bound?
- Can you speak to your previous employment history?
Administrator
I sent in a PDF application, which included my resume, cover letter, and a statement of faith. The first contact was via email, and then I was invited to the campus for an interview. The interview felt friendly yet serious. I got a job offer over the phone after the interview. I was able to negotiate the salary a bit.
- Could you elaborate on some technical details relevant to the role?
- Please explain your views on the statement of faith.
Human Resources
It was a very professional and job-specific detailed interview. They asked questions about my management style and what management skills are important. They also asked about my church attendance, even though I was qualified for the position described.
- Have you ever worked in an educational setting before?
- Could you describe your management style?
- What management skills do you consider to be important?
