I interviewed for the staff Geo-Structural Engineer role at GEO engineers in Northborough, MA. I met a senior staff employer who gave me a presentation about their work. They didn't ask me many questions, but it was a good experience overall.

The interview process kicked off with an HR screening, then a chat with the hiring manager, and finally, a meeting with the team. The whole thing wrapped up in under two weeks. The HR part was pretty standard stuff. The manager interview focused on my skills and experience, and the team interview was similar, but also explored how I collaborate within a group.

First, there was a phone call where they asked basic questions about my background, experience, and career goals. They also explained the company's current needs and the responsibilities of the role. If the phone interview went well, I was invited to the office for an in-person interview. This interview was pretty laid-back and conversational. The senior engineers talked with me for a bit before we went out to lunch and I met everyone else in the office. It seemed more like they were checking out my personality and how I'd fit in with the team, rather than grilling me on soil mechanics or other typical geotech stuff. Overall, it was a really smooth and easy experience, felt more like hanging out with friends than a formal interview.

The HR person interviewing me missed our scheduled interview call and did not return any of my calls or emails, so I had to reschedule. Follow-up interviews with HR and some scientists were great. But the position was canceled due to COVID-19. I did re-apply once the position was open again and then never heard anything on getting an interview, let alone if they even received my application. When I emailed HR asking for an update nearly 2 months later, I never got a response.
