First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Geocon Group.
Geologist
Since there was no job posting, I sent the company my resume and cover letter directly via email. I heard back in under a week and set up an in-person interview for the following week.
- What is your understanding of this industry?
- What kind of projects are you interested in working on?
Geologist
I applied through a recruiter and had an initial phone interview. Then, I had a 1-on-1 in-person interview with senior management. The in-person interview seemed to go well, and they mentioned I'd get an offer soon. However, I never received an offer and only got a vague reason why not.
- How would I handle a hypothetical problem client to avoid losing him/her?
Technician
I applied online and then got an email to schedule an interview. I had two interviews, one with a supervisor and one with the department head who could hire me. The first interview was general company info, not about my skills. The second one was better, and the guy had the authority to hire me. I was offered the job but turned it down because of the pay and I was worried about how field staff advance. They did a good job selling the company but didn't seem to have jobs for new or junior people that paid prevailing wages.
- Tell me about a duty from your previous job that you found difficult to perform.
