Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Genetec.
Senior Software Engineer
The entire interview process spanned over three weeks, from the initial recruiter call to my final conversation with Kevin. Despite the duration, everything else went smoothly. The HR team was accommodating when I needed to reschedule, and the development team was both friendly and professional. My final meeting with the VP was exceptionally pleasant. Overall, I found the process enjoyable and I'm excited to be joining the company.
- Can you share your general technical knowledge of the Dynamics area?
- Could you provide specific technical insights regarding F&O?
Software Developer
The interview process started with a quick recruiter call to explore fit. Then, there was a one-hour in-person interview at the office. The recruiter call wasn't too technical, mostly about my past roles and why I was interested in Genetec. The in-person interview, however, was quite technical and detailed. It began with discussing my experience, including specific questions about how I handled code testing. After that, we moved to coding questions where I had to analyze provided code snippets, explaining the function of each line, paying attention to value/reference passing and design patterns. The last part involved a quick, high-level system design for a mobile-to-server communication system. The technical interview was challenging. Despite the technical nature, the interviewers were friendly and patient, making for a good experience.
- Could you outline a basic high-level design for a software system that enables communication between a mobile device and a central server?
Software Developer
I applied online and had a quick first interview with HR. Then there were 2 more interviews, one online and one on-site. Each time I met a new person. Based on their questions, I don't think they read my CV properly. They asked a lot about security and business logic, not really focusing on my skills. The technical questions were more about the company's business concepts.
- Could you discuss architectures for security concerning mobile incident reporting scenarios?
- Can you share some insights on performance related to microservices?
- Define dependency injection.
