First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at General Steel Buildings.
Sales Associate
The interview was super fast and straight to the point. They really want to know if you're ready for the high-pressure sales environment. I met with the VP of Sales and HR. They also tried to understand you on a personal level, which is cool because work isn't just about work.
- Can you tell me about your previous sales experience?
Sales
This was a pretty standard interview that included a phone screening and then a face-to-face meeting. You start by talking to a recruiter, and then have a one-on-one with the hiring manager. They want to see if you have what it takes to identify potential buyers and close them. The whole thing was over in a few weeks and wasn't too stressful or hard. That comes later on the sales floor.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- Describe your experience with closing deals and behavioral questions.
Inside Sales
I sent in my application and got a call from Desiree pretty quickly, within a couple of days. We chatted about the job and my sales background. It sounded like a good fit, so she asked me to come in for an interview that same afternoon. I met with one of the owners, and they hired me on the spot. I start next week.
- Can you tell us about your previous sales experience?
- What do you expect from this role?
Payroll Administrator
I chatted with the VP of Operations and the Controller. We had a good discussion about the role and the company, and also my qualifications. It was helpful for everyone involved.
- Can you describe your experience at your previous employer?
- What led to your departure from your last position?
