So I applied online and after about 2 hours I got an invite for a HireVue interview. It was 2 hours long and had 5 behavioral questions and 2 game/puzzle based assessments. You could re-record once if you wanted. Then, the next day after the HireVue, I got a coding assessment, also through HireVue. There were two coding challenges and I had 45 minutes for each. They were pretty easy. About 3 weeks after the HireVue interviews, someone reached out to set up a phone interview with an IT manager. They asked about my preferred offices and roles, and why I want to work for GM. Then they gave me the salary and benefits info and set up the final interview for the next week. The final interview was two 1-hour interviews back-to-back with two IT managers. They only asked behavioral questions, except for asking what coding languages I knew. Each interview was supposed to be an hour but they only took about 30-45 minutes. I could ask questions at the end of each. A week after that, an IT manager called and said I got the job and told me about the team and role. Four days later, HR called with the offer details like pay and benefits. A week after that, I got the official offer letter.

The whole interview experience was pretty good and I learned a lot. The interviewers were engaging and kept things on track, asking questions that elicited good responses. They were all really nice and easy to talk to. The recruiters were also super friendly and not intimidating at all! I applied in early September 2021 and got an offer by mid October 2021, so the whole thing took about a month. Just a tip, don't just apply to one company; apply to hundreds of positions! I applied through GM's career site and used HireVue. The first step involved recording myself answering typical interview questions, with two tries to get it right. After recording, there was a puzzle game with pattern matching and addition/subtraction problems. Next, the second stage was a coding challenge with two problems, each taking about 45 minutes. The first coding problem was easy, and even if you're rusty, don't cheat by looking up answers; they want to see your thought process. The second coding problem was tough. The third stage was a phone interview, only for those who did well in the first two. This was a chance for them to get to know you personally and ask about your background and experience. Just chat normally! If they think you're a good fit, you move on. The fourth stage was a one-hour video conference on Microsoft Teams with two interviewers. Typically, these interviews are 30 minutes, but you're encouraged to use the extra 30 minutes to ask questions about GM or the role. You should also practice interview questions, but don't expect the exact ones you prepared to be asked. The interviewers are great at guiding you to an answer, offering examples if you get stuck. At the end, definitely ask questions that genuinely interest you about the position, GM, or anything else – they really want you to! If everything goes well, you'll get a phone call offering you the position, with a summarized offer letter emailed the following week. I got the call on a Friday and the offer the next Friday. Then, an official offer letter comes through Workday to accept or decline.

Started with a 15-minute phone screening, then got a behavioral assessment to complete within 48 hours. I had to follow up after two weeks of finishing it. Then, I had back-to-back interviews, which were all behavioral. The main hiccup was the talent acquisition scheduling the interviews on the same day with incorrect times, which I feel impacted my chances. The interviews themselves weren't the issue, but the scheduling mix-up from TA was problematic.
