So, the interview had three parts. First, a chat with HR. Then, a behavioral interview. Lastly, a coding challenge. They were pretty strict about using Python for the coding part and didn't want to consider other languages at first. I managed to do the coding questions in JavaScript though, and all the tests passed in their tool. It felt like the language rule was more important than actual skills, which was a bit of a bummer. The process was organized, but the overall experience was just okay because of that language focus.

First, I had a phone call with the recruiter. Then, I had a Zoom call with the Team Leader. After that, there was a 3-hour interview at their office where I had to solve 2 Leetcode questions and a system design question. Later, there was another 2-hour interview at their office which included a personal interview, a part where I had to find bugs in the code, and a 30-minute task to build a parser. Despite all this, they ended up hiring someone else. The people were nice and the process seemed fair, but the recruiter was hard to reach, and I had to follow up after each stage, with waits of over 2 weeks between them.

I found the job on GM's careers site and applied. A hiring manager reached out the same day for a phone screen, which we had later that day for about 30 minutes. The recruiter then sent her notes and my application to the plant's hiring manager. The next day, I was invited for an in-person interview and a tour of the plant. The interview panel included the hiring manager, the area engineer manager, and the plant lead engineer. They used the STAR method for questions. After the interview, they told me they were interviewing one more candidate and would decide soon. HR called me two weeks later with an offer.
