First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at General Dynamics Electric Boat.
Software Engineer
The interview process was entirely behavioral, with no technical questions. I was asked to know my resume well and prepare for questions about leadership, my past experiences, and my motivation for joining GDEB. They did not ask any scenario-based questions.
- What is the reason for your choice of major?
- Can you discuss your resume?
- What drives your interest in joining GDEB?
Software Engineer
I applied online and heard back about 10 months later for an interview. First, I met with HR to chat about working at EB. Then, I had my fingerprints taken and toured the site with two engineers. After that, I interviewed with an engineer where we discussed my resume and the role. I got to ask them questions too. Later, another engineer took me to lunch on site. Finally, I met with HR again to go over all my details.
- Can you tell me about your senior project?
Software Engineer
Applied online, and HR got in touch about a month later to set up an interview. I had a single, hour-long phone chat with a manager. He seemed chill and friendly. We talked about the job, and then he asked me to go through my resume. I gave a quick rundown of everything on it, and he'd ask questions about anything that caught his eye, and we'd chat about it. It wasn't super technical or complicated.
- Tell me more about your resume.
- Can you expand on this part of your resume?
- What did you do here?
