Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Genentech.
Business Analyst
This interview experience felt unprofessional. An administrative assistant was responsible for scheduling the interviews. Although the interviews themselves went quite well and consisted of standard behavioral questions, the fact that they were conducted onsite was a bit strange and made me question if the goal was just to satisfy a requirement for interviewing multiple candidates. What was particularly unprofessional was the lack of any response regarding the outcome of the interviews, even after multiple follow-up emails. Given that I took time off work and dedicated six hours to the process, I feel I deserved at least an update on my application status.

Business Systems Analyst
The interview was really in depth, almost like a "You interview Us" kind of vibe. It went for about 2 1/2 hours and was super positive. But then the job itself wasn't quite what they made it seem. The onboarding was pretty weak, the team didn't seem very engaged, and communication was poor. There wasn't really a way to flag operational issues that came up from poorly thought-out solutions. They just wanted me to go along with things, which was totally unacceptable and harmful to the Patient Access mission.
- Can you explain the difference between Waterfall and Agile development?
Business Analyst
I went through 2 telephonic interviews, one with the manager and the other with the Global head of the department. I got positive feedback from both interviewers. I was expecting an on-site interview, but then I was informed that I got selected for the internship.
